SS07 Mobile Robotics in the Factory of the Future

Aim: While stationary robots are well-established and important parts of many factories and production plants, mobile platforms and manipulators will become an integral part of the factory of the future. The “Industry 4.0” intends applications from transport and manipulation systems up to applications with intensive interaction with human workers.
In contrast to the well-known AGVs (autonomous guided vehicles) this new generation of transport and assistant robots has to cope has to cope flexi-bly with complex situations, variable environment conditions in different scenarios. However, integrating mobile robots in the factory of the future is still a very challenging task and comes with a number of still open research ques-tions.
Therefore, we invite submissions of papers addressing aspects of mobile robotics, mobile manipulation, human-robot interaction and collaborative robotics in manufacturing, production and logistics.
Topics: This special session will focus on (but not be limited to) the following topics, always related to the factory of the future:
- Unmanned aerial vehicles in manufacturing and logistics
